Strategic Plan 2011-2012

Executive Summary

The EDC continually updates its Strategic Plan to promote economic development.

The mission of the Economic Development Corporation of Southwest California is to enhance business retention and development by promoting economic growth and a positive business environment that enables the sustained economic success of the region. Southwest California companies rely on the EDC to take a leadership role in economic development, with the primary focus on creating a rich, sustainable economy that provides high-wage jobs.

The 2011-2012 Strategic Plan focuses on four key EDC goals. The Board of Directors Executive Committee will have the authority to add or delete items as needed with Board approval. Recommendations for economic development strategies and goals are presented below:

GOAL 1:  Outreach - to increase visibility and recognition of the EDC of Southwest California and to promote the EDC name and mission through outreach processes that communicate leadership, brand, and resources.

 

GOAL 2:   Marketing for Membership - to attract and retain broad-based membership that enhances the resources, finances, and leadership of the EDC through effective marketing strategies.

          GOAL 3:  Attraction - to enhance business attraction/expansion efforts.

          GOAL 4: Education - to support the Southwest Community Development 
          Organization (SCDO) in its community education efforts to promote economic
          development.

         

The EDC's organizational strategies will ensure that existing companies in the region will have the business resources and support to expand locally, which will create more jobs and help influence companies to stay in the region and help attract new business by having a regional organization dedicated to economic development. Its goals will work toward achieving the mission of the EDC with focus and measurable results.  Key actions related to each of the goals' objective have been developed to ensure the committees tasked with completion of the strategic plan have clear, measurable guidelines.

Specific Objectives for the fiscal year are being developed and will be posted upon completion.
