Frequently Asked Questions

The EDC establishes the critical link between local government and the business community. In today's competitive environment, with or without the EDC, local economic development strategies will be developed and implemented. Absent a private-sector economic development organization like EDC, it is virtually assured that local government will be required to assume the responsibility for those economic development strategies. The primary advantage of a public-private model is that the private sector involvement is greatly expanded, thus gaining the expertise, knowledge, energy, resources, and the "buy in" of the business community. The role of the EDC is to ensure that the private and public partners together are given a substantive position in determining our region's economic future.
