EDC Committees The EDC facilitates a number of strategic committees to ensure its mission of business retention and development is achieved. Below is a brief description of each committee and its objectives. Membership/Marketing Committee Meets 4th Tuesday of the Month - 8:00 a.m.
Goal: Position the EDC as the lead agency for business retention, expansion, and attraction by providing quality resources, educational events, legislative advocacy, and professional connections in Southwest California. Objectives:
· Aid in the attraction of new members to the organization · Develop a positive marketing campaign to emphasis benefits of membership to the organization · Assist in providing press releases/public service announcements for the events the organization hosts · Advise staff on current trends to promote the EDC · Participate in membership visits Meets the 1st Thursday of the Month, 9:00 a.m. Goal: Provide resources and develop relationships with regional business through ongoing communications and visitations. Objectives: · Develop a comprehensive database of regional businesses to understand the area's economic base · Actively participate in business retention visits to companies in Southwest California · Identify overlooked opportunities to serve or expand existing businesses · Aid in the attraction of new business by attending events outside the area as a representative of region · Act as an ambassador of the EDC at related events or functions
Attraction Team The Attraction Team is comprised of member cities and executive board members who are tasked with attracting businesses that create a rich, sustainable economy that provides high wage jobs. GreenTech Committee Meets the 2nd Tuesday of the Month, 9:00 a.m. Goal: Position Southwest California as a center for Green Technology by encouraging the location to our region, businesses that create, promote, and produce green technologies Objectives: · Create a GreenTech database of existing green businesses in the region · Identify potential GreenTech businesses to attract/create · Work with the Green Venture Institute on the establishment of a Sustainability Center in the region · Promote GreenTech as part of the Southwest California Business Summit · Craft statements on green to reiterate that we are not the promoting the establishment of a green region that implies more regulation and a less business friendly environment, but encouraging the location of green technology businesses to the region Meets 1st Tuesday of the Month, 8:00 a.m. Goal: Position Southwest California as a regional technology center Objectives: · Develop/refine a database of technology professionals · Expand networking for technology professionals · Identify educational needs and resources for technology professionals · Foster infrastructure, education, and funding sources to attract like-minded technology groups · Aid in technology incubator opportunities
Southwest California CONNECTED Program Meets the 2nd Monday of the Month, 2:00 p.m. Download CONNECTED Application Goal: Provide innovative technology and life science entrepreneurs the opportunity to connect with the resources they need to succeed by fostering the entrepreneurial spirit and promoting investment opportunities. Objectives: · Establish pathway panel groups consisting of a lawyer, accountant, banker, and management specialist · Process and vet entrepreneur idea applications for referral to pathway panels · Market the program The Business Summit Committee is tasked with the facilitation of a successful Southwest California Business Summt providing relevant program choices to regional businesses by enhancing the scope of the event beyond procurement, permitting and processes to include human resource, information technology, green technolgy, marketing, best practices, and loan availability.
